Yesterday, our Writing Camp kicked off and the
writing focus was centered on author’s creating beginnings, middles and endings
for their stories. We zoomed into this concept by reading the book Ish
by Peter Reynolds. We discussed how author's organize their writing.
After reading Ish, students went to their seats to write
about a memorable time in their life. We taught the skill of brainstorming and
reviewed the 5-step writing process.
Today, we applied our learning from Monday! We
used a variety of books and put the writers into groups.
Their goal was to read the book and fill out a graphic organizer that organized
the beginning, middle and ending as created by the author!
This graphic organizer has plenty of room for words and/or pictures and you can download it for free from my TPT store by clicking this link!
As always, we value Author's Chair.
This gives students a chance to share their writing with the entire class or
with another student. On this particular day, students offered feedback to each
other in efforts to help each other’s writing!
What a great 2nd day of writing camp!
